Boston Bull Terriers are known for their systems making an over-abundance of yeast, but poor Andy has terrible allergies too. When we first started him on dog food, we noticed that he would turn bright pink every night. At first, we just thought he was sleepy, but soon he began losing fur, breaking out in pimples, and giving off a smell reminiscent of dirty earth worms.
A quick search on the Internet revealed his
breed's prevelent yeast problem, and we began feeding him only
Eagle Pack Holistic Select Dry Dog Formula, Duck Meal and Oatmeal. According to
Eagle Pack's website, "Eagle Pack® diets contain Holistic-Natural ingredients with added Holistic Supplements, at effective levels, to promote the health of your pet. You simply won't see the same results with any other pet food at any price." Quite frankly, we believe their claim is true. Andy's skin cleared up, his fur grew back, and that terrible odor disappeared within a matter weeks. He doesn't get so quite so bright pink anymore either, but his vet says his allergies will likely always act up now and then. Nothing a little Benedryl can't fix.
His skin was still slightly dry, but his vet recommended a daily capsule of fish oil squirted on his food, and now that isn't even so much of a problem anymore. Sorry Andy, no table scraps for you.
